The Latin American and Caribbean Center and Institute for International Professional Services at Florida International University have collaborated on educational programs with the Centro Interamericano de Gerencia Política since 1999. This strategic alliance emerged in response to the need in our increasingly globalized, transnational world for professionals trained in the field of political management.

The alliance was cemented in November 1999 with an international seminar in political marketing. It was followed in May 2000 with an intensive course in political campaign management. LACC, IIPS and the Centro Interamericano de Gerencia Política brought together the parties that formed the Political Management Consortium for Latin America. This initiative seeks to create an academic forum for debate of topics relating to political management, providing participants with the skills and training to contribute to the improved efficiency of political and electoral processes in Latin America.

A second intensive course in political marketing was held in Miami from April 30 to May 5, 2001. The third course was just completed on July 15-21.
